Customizing your page
Page Setup
You can set up the page size, orientation, and right/left margins of the current document.
Page Setup
To change the page setting of the active document:
- Click Page and then click Page Setup.
- Specify page size, orientation, and margins on the Page Setup dialog box.
The OK button will be enabled only when Customize is selected from the Paper Margins list.
When you select Customize from the Paper Size and the Paper Margins list, paper size and top, bottom, left, right margins are adjustable. Once you specify the margins, you can apply those changes to the document by clicking the OK button.
Insert Header/Footer
This feature allows you to insert the same content such as title, subtitle, etc. to the top or bottom of each page.
While you are editing the header/footer, the body text or contents are not editable.
To insert a header/footer
- Click Page-Header/Footer-Header or Footer. The header and footer areas surrounded by dashed lines appear.
- Enter the desired text within the dashed box. You can also insert pictures and/or tables.
- Click anywhere on the document except the header/footer area. The dashed boxes disappear, and their contents are displayed in gray color.
If you want to insert header/footer more quickly, click the header/footer area on the document.
Footnote/Endnote
Footnotes are notes placed at the bottom of a page in a document whereas endnotes are placed at the end of a section or a document.
Footnotes and endnotes are used for additional information, explanatory notes, or quoted passages.
To insert a footnote:
- Position the mouse pointer where you want to add a footnote.
- Click Insert-Footnote/Endnote-Footnote. The note area appears on the editing screen.
- Enter contents in the footnote area.
To insert an endnote:
- Position the mouse pointer where you want to add an endnote.
- Click Insert-Footnote/Endnote-Endnote. The note area appears on the editing screen.
- Enter contents in the endnote area.
Page Number
You can insert page numbers that are necessary for the index and table of contents, and every time you modify the document, the page numbers are updated automatically. The number is incremented for each successive page.
Number pages
- Click Page and then click Page Number.
- Select the location to add a page number.
- Click anywhere outside the page number area.
Delete page numbers
- Click Page and then click Page Number.
- Click Remove.
- Click anywhere outside the page number area.
Page Break
If the last page is not fully written, but you want to start a new page, you can insert a manual page break with the Page break feature.
To insert a page break
- Place a cursor where you want to start a new page.
- Click Page and then click Page Break.
